Wake up to the Inner Light

Much is happening in the world outside, much conflict, much chaos, many battles. We read about some of these, we hear about some, and we assume or think (often falsely) that we know something about them. But do we really know?

With our limited and narrow vision we are unable to see the deeper forces working behind and shaping these outer events, these outer battles. Yet we continue to form opinions despite our ignorance. The ignorance, however, is not only of the forces behind the outer battles, but also of the battles inside us – the conflict and chaos inside, reflected in the world outside.

We must aspire to wake up to an inner light if we want to become conscious of the battles inside. Because in these inner battles are found the hints for knowing something about the outer battles.

For this month’s photo-feature we pay a visual homage to the Light.

Truth and Light are synonymous or equivalent words in the thought of the Vedic seers even as are their opposites, Darkness and Ignorance. The battle of the Vedic Gods and Titans is a perpetual conflict between Day and Night for the possession of the triple world of heaven, mid-air and earth and for the liberation or bondage of the mind, life and body of the human being, his mortality or his immortality. It is waged by the Powers of a supreme Truth and Lords of a supreme Light against other dark Powers who struggle to maintain the foundation of this falsehood in which we dwell and the iron walls of these hundred fortified cities of the Ignorance.

In spite of the night the spiritual Light is there.

Light must illumine the consciousness and the shadows of Ignorance must be dissolved in all.

The light is everywhere, the force is everywhere. And the world is so small. (p. 69)

 Every obstacle must disappear, in every part of the being, the darkness of the ignorance must be replaced by the Divine’s knowledge. (p. 69)
